Rebranding ALC

ALC is a charity with a 100-year history of instilling in children and young people the values of equality, happiness, kindness, inclusion and respect through its range of activities. Angie Johnston, Charity Manager at ALC, explains why Designtastic was trusted to rebrand this century-old community lynchpin.

When ALC celebrated its centenary, the charity’s name and logo, which were much-loved in the parts of Aberdeen city it serves, needed to evolve in order to align with its present day educational and fun activities.

A safe haven where children and young people have been encouraged to flourish and fulfil their potential for generations, it was crucial for ALC’s new brand to respect its heritage as well as align it with the services it provides today.

From day one of working with Designtastic on the rebrand we knew we were in good hands. Fiona and Graeme guided us through each step of this unfamiliar process with patience, expertise and attention to detail. They first surveyed the charity’s service users, staff and partners to fully understand people’s experience and perception of ALC and used that research to inform the design of the new brand and the marketing collateral that has brought it to life. They have made the journey from a much loved century-old identity to a fresh new brand that is fit for a new era.

The new branding they created encapsulates the warm, positive, friendly ethos that is at the heart of ALC!
