Oil and gas exploration and production company Repsol Sinopec Resources UK wanted to launch a campaign to raise awareness of integrity management. The aim was to help the offshore workforce spot potential issues before they develop into something that could pose a risk to safety or disrupt operational targets.
Closely working with Repsol’s integrity team, we named the campaign ‘Spot It, Own It’ and set about creating a method to help individuals identify what to look for, and what to do next. We came up with a pocket sized swatch book printed on strong, flexible plastic sheets to survive the harsh working conditions offshore. To make it easier to use in confined environments, the sheets were fastened together with a plastic binding screw for neatness and convenience. Each potential area of degradation was pictured and the threat of failure rated to make it easier to identify, assess and prioritise integrity issues.
Demand was high with two print runs required and 2,500 swatch books issued offshore. During an 18-month period, over 7,000 integrity issues were observed with 2,000 identified as requiring immediate attention.
